SWIMMING POOLS KANTRIDA

The Swimming pool Kantrida was built in 1974 in order to facilitate traning of the swimming and water polo sports clubs. Since 2005 the Kantrida pools' have been under construction and July 24th, 2008 will be recorded as the date of the finaliziation of one of the largest projects in our city. In fact, the City of Rijeka and its citizens that have invested in city bonds, celebrated the refurbishment of this very important sports' facility for Rijeka. 

Rijeka is the first town in Croatia that has started a major investment cycle. Once the construction is finalized, the citizens of Rijeka and athletes will be able to use five separated pools (olympic pool size, renovated old Olympic size pool, warm-up pool, beginners pool and diving pool) As the part of the project, a new garage with 148 parking places was built. Also, within the venue there is a fitness center, tourist information point and refreshment corners.

The primary purpose of the facility is for sports: swimming, water polo, synchronized swimming, triathlon and diving. Besides, the venue is also occasionally used for meets, tournaments and various performances, as well as recreation.
