On behalf of LEN, I welcome you to the 2010 Euro League Water Polo Final Four that will determine this season’s best European Club in the men’s category. The final stage of the top Continental Water Polo Club competition brings us once again to Italy, and to Naples for the fourth Final Four celebrated in the Capital of the Region of Campania.
The authorities of the City of Naples and the Acquachiara Sports Society have done a wonderful job preparing for these intense and culminating days of Water Polo action with some of the World’s finest players demonstrating their capacities but also how important team-work is to achieve the final victory. The four teams that will strive to lift the Cup that declares them European Club Champions are sure to offer their best, and they are four extraordinary teams.
I wish to thank the organisers, volunteers, sponsors, and the Italian Swimming Federation for always being such reliable collaborators. LEN is grateful to the local authorities for the constant promotion of the Water Polo discipline.
As every year, we look forward to these games with anticipation as we know how full of emotion and intensity they will be.
All the best to the four teams present, to their supporters, and to all the spectators.

I’m really pleased to welcome all the
athletes that will take part to the Water Polo Euro League Final Four
2010 hosted here in Naples on the 14th and 15th of May.
The opportunity to host the challenge that is going to declare the best
European team, is for us and for our city a true source of honour.
Thanks to this occasion, Naples will again be a high-profile centre of
attraction for all the water-polo lovers who can relive those powerful
and glorious moments once lived thanks to the great Neapolitan teams,
even if our Club won’t take part to this challenge.
I want to express my gratitude for having made it possible to the
organizers of the Acquachiara ATI 2000 and of course to Franco Porzio,
who has been the memorable example of those unforgettable seasons of the
Neapolitan water polo.
I know that this will be the eagerly awaited chance to watch an
important and international two-day challenge surrounded by a framework
made of that hospitality and sportsmanship that only a city like Naples
can offer.

I’m really honoured to welcome all the
athletes, coaches, and managers of the four best European teams that
will challenge here in Naples on the 14th and 15th of May on the
occasion of the Water Polo Euro League Final Four 2010.
I want to show my gratitude first of all to the Ligue Européenne de
Natation for Water Polo for accepting our city as the venue of such an
important sports event. I know that Naples was actually challenging in
this awarding with other great cities that also boasted unquestionable
traditions and sports facilities, which is the reason why I’m even more
thankful and honoured.
It goes without saying that - even if Neapolitan teams will not take
part to the Final Four - the chance to host the highest continental
competition for water polo here in Naples - and particularly at Scandone
swimming-pool - will help the great prestige in water polo history that
our city already enjoys to even increase.
I owe a special thank-you to Società Sportiva Acquachiara - ATI 2000,
that always keeps promoting and supporting sports activities, athletes
and sports-lovers, and - and here we have the proof - is always ready to
organize important international sports events. |

Finally, I hope to be a spectator of a great event, which will of course
be intense and highly professional.
I hope, and I know, that this international event will once again allow
Naples to be a focal point for high-profile sports events.

Councillor Responsible for Sports for the Municipality of Naples
